10 Reminders for Preachers Here are ten reminders for those who preach and teach the Word of God, as articulated by some of history’s greatest preachers.
Setting Aside Your Liberty Exercising our freedom must never come at the cost of offending another brother or sister in Christ. The principle of love demands that, whenever necessary, we willingly sacrifice our liberty for the sake of protecting each other. That is Paul’s theme in 1 Corinthians 8. In chapter 9, Paul provides some examples from his own ministry to drive that point home. He begins by explaining the church’s responsibility to financially support the man of God, and how he had set aside that right for their sake. He didn’t want his financial needs to be an impediment to the work of the gospel, so he supported himself while he ministered to them.
The Mall: A Great Fishing Pond…While it Lasts I’ve titled this article “The Mall: A Great Fishing Pond….. While it Lasts.” The reason: the availability of this kind of evangelism won’t last forever. I think it’s pollyannic for anyone to think laws are going to become more favorable for Christian evangelism. Free speech rights for Christians are not going to become more liberal, but rather more prohibitive. Yet for now, malls are still a wonderful place for reaching your community with the good news of the gospel of Jesus Christ.
It’s time for the most spiritually enriching and invigorating event of all time: public worship at your local church.
